Sellwood Park Concert – June 24, 2018

Jumptown Big Band will be performing on Sunday June 24th 5:30pm to 6:45pm at Sellwood Park as part of the “Make Music Day PDX” city-wide musical event – free and open to the public. Make Music Day PDX is musical event dedicated to the celebration of music of all styles performed by groups and individuals from all over the metropolitan area. Jumptown Big Band will be performing a mix of classic swing standards along with a few contemporary jazz arrangements. 20th Annual Furball – May 5, 2018

Jumptown Big Band is excited to be performing for the Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon’s 20th Annual Furball. This fundraising event will be held at the Portland Art Museum on Saturday May 5th starting at 6pm. The theme of this year’s event is A”cat”emy Awards. In addition to music by Jumptown Big Band, this star-studded event will include silent and live auctions and an awards ceremony. The Feral Cat Coalition of Oregon is an organization dedicated to improving the welfare and reducing the population of feral and stray cats. Stan Kenton Tribute Party – October 14, 2017

Jumptown Big Band presents a swinging tribute to the timeless music of the legendary Stan Kenton with a big band dance party and concert. The band is expanding its normal size for this event to include 10 brass players to mimic the Stan Kenton orchestra. We will be performing a variety of danceable swing arrangements and ballads along with a few instrumental concert features. Claudia Knauer will be our featured vocalist performing tunes sung by June Christy and Anita O’Day – who were both vocalists with the Stan Kenton orchestra. Whether you love to dance or just love to listen, come enjoy an evening to remember.

This event will be held in the beautifully renovated auditorium at the Multnomah Arts Center at 7688 SW Capitol Hwy, Portland, OR 97219 in the heart of Multnomah Village on Saturday October 14th 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Open Rehearsal at Eagle Estates – September 13, 2017

Jumptown Big Band will be performing an open rehearsal on Wednesday September 13th 7:30pm to 9:30pm at Eagle Estates in Gresham. We have done this event the past few years and the attendance has been growing. We will be playing a wide selection of big band arrangements. Come listen as we sight read new charts, play some old favorites, and even take a few requests from the audience. Aurora Colony Vineyards Concert – July 19, 2017

Wednesday July 19th  7:00pm to 9:00pm

Wednesday nights this summer are big band feature nights at Aurora Colony Vineyards sponsored by North Willamette Valley Friends of Music. This elegant winery, located in an outstanding country setting, is just a short drive south from Portland. Performances are on their beautiful outdoor patio.

Jumptown Big Band is scheduled to perform on July 19th 7pm to 9pm. The band will be playing some well known big band arrangements as well as entertaining jazz charts that feature our fantastic soloists. Portland big band vocalist Claudia Knauer will also be with us to sing some really fun tunes. You will not want to miss hearing these great arrangements written specifically for a full 17-piece jazz ensemble.

$10 cover charge at the door. Food and drink are available for purchase in the tasting room.
