Jumptown Big Band presents our annual "Fall Swing Dance" Saturday October 7, 2023 at the Multnomah Arts Center Auditorium. This venue has a large dance floor and plenty of parking. Beginner dance lesson starts at 7:00pm with live music from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. Portland's leading big band singer Claudia Knauer will be performing some exciting vocal arrangements. And this year we have an added attraction. The Newport Nightingales, Portland’s top swing dance vocal trio, will be performing a variety of Andrews Sisters and Boswell Sisters big band arrangements with us. The Newport Nightingales can be seen regularly at the Corkscrew Wine Bar and other jazz and swing dance venues in the metro area. A half-hour beginner dance lesson will be provided by professional dance instructor Mindy Barnhart of Stumptown Dance to allow new swing dancers the opportunity to learn some steps and perhaps provide seasoned dancers with a brush up on the basics.
